Welcome to the Trademark Institute of Training!
The Trademark Institute of Training (TMIT) is an institution dedicated to ensuring that law students, trademark professionals, other interested attorneys, or corporate entities receive the knowledge and experience that is necessary to become competent in drafting, filing, and prosecuting trademark applications.
Our program is designed to give you the foundation and experiences necessary to enter into a trademark career, add trademark skills to your legal tool belt, or help your company analyze and execute trademark strategies. We strive to provide our students with the needed classroom and practical trademark drafting and prosecution experience by allowing them to draft live trademarks for our clients. Therefore, TMIT’s faculty are Trademark and IP attorneys with varied law firm, corporate, and government (USPTO) backgrounds. Furthermore, our faculty has drafted, prosecuted, and interviewed hundreds of applications before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
For Law Students:
Students of the Trademark Institute receive the much-needed experience of drafting trademarks under the tutelage of trademark legal professionals. TMIT focuses on the practical aspect of trademark drafting and prosecution, and each class drafts and prosecutes trademarks. If you are thinking of opening your own trademark practice, seeking ways to land a career in trademark law, or just looking to understand branding methodologies for your company, our class equips you with the knowledge you need to succeed. Additionally, our students receive ample networking opportunities from joining TMIT’s growing network of IP professionals, recent law grads, and law students.
The continued growth of IP-related work has created a robust source of financially rewarding work for IP professionals, even as the overall legal market suffers. If you are a paralegal that is interested in joining an in- demand field, our IP program for Paralegals is your opportunity to gain the skills you need to make yourself an asset to IP law firms and corporate IP departments. The IP administrative procedures you will learn include preparing applications, filing documents, corresponding with the US Patent & Trademark Office (US PTO), conducting searches, and docketing.
If you are an attorney that is not familiar with Intellectual Property, you may be under the impression that you need a technical background to do trademark work. However, it is not required that non-IP attorneys have a specific background to do legal work in the Trademark arena. Upon successful completion of the TMIT trademarks class, you will be equipped and competent to file and prosecute trademarks. If you’d like to add an extra skill-set to your legal tool belt, this is the class for you.
For Corporate Entities:
As the brand steward of your company, have you considered the best defense against ‘copycat competitors’ and the laws that protect your brand’s identity? Trademarks are vital to protecting your product names, tag-lines, slogans, and logos. Our trademarks class explains in detail the benefits of registering your trademark, trademark rights, how to avoid infringement, and the myriad of ways in which trademarks can be a valuable revenue-generating asset for your business.
